FIRST YEAR IN THE UNIVERSITY

It all started in July, 2010
Not a thrill, for I don’t favour crowds
My self esteem showed through wet palms
The questions poured more than was asked
Hallelujah I got in at last!

Friends I chose without a care
There are crazy sins that can’t be shared
Rules were tools I came to fear
Notes I took without a note
All steps were religiously counted

I carried more than I was supposed to
Every lecture was an introduction
The dominants soon took centre stage
Lecturers were gods, students mortals
And I soon learnt Skye bank was just a hall.

Easily I made my mark
My name shined more than a golden throne
My voice became a song to like
Quickly, it all became a bore
School days were chores I soon abhorred.
