Might I Be Excused, Please?

Might i be excused please, kind sir?
The rain isn’t falling enough
to touch my baby plants.
Can i maybe wait for a storm instead, sir?
The couch is not a fluffy wool
How about i lie in bed, sir?
Pencils are the worst, i can’t use them.
I’ll buy a pen tomorrow
So my writing can be easily read, sir.
I don’t mean to sound lazy
So, I’ll agree that i am bored.
Do we have to always write on chalkboards, sir?
Do we need the themes, the meters and rhymes,
Why should we care if the syllables count, sir?
Don’t you get tired of the routine?
Whose head is next on the guillotine?
Can i be the next and next and next
to not do anything today, sir?
I feel like i am sick
Maybe my body needs this healing
And i know it’s just a feeling
But can i be out of air already, sir?

Be rest-assured these excuses won’t cease.
Today, the tyre would be as flat as sheets.
Tomorrow, the migraine would repeat.
If Thursday is a holiday
Why don’t we just take Friday all the way, sir?
I apologize, I have had a pay cut.
I can’t afford it now.
