I OWE NO ONE

We make sacrifices in church
Give giant basket offerings
For penance and for proud prayers
I pray that pestilence comes soon
On those who say we owe no one

There is a neighbor needing salt
That follows embrace of insults
We say it’s all good to perceive
As poverty wears its fragrance
And hopes for a good afternoon.
When we say that we owe no one
What we do know is we do owe
I pray pestilence would come soon
To those who claim they owe no man

Leonell.
