For Nearly A Decade

If steps could be traced back to track-
When race was to run, not white/black,
When living free didn’t cost a dime,
When heights threw a challenge to climb,
Without clothes or gender choice, we raced in a sack.

Tears, a key factor not to lack.
Missing lots from my childhood rack,
I’m done, want to go back to prime,
Where happiness was not a crime.
A young, restless happy child to never look back.

Moments heart was free of a crack,
Tender care, none tried to hijack.
Want to start all over, not mime,
Lost in vague feelings of my time,
I’d go a decade miles back, to learn how to stack.
