It comes and goes in waves

‘How old are you’ was her first question.
Age, a number that will fade,
Like a thirsty wave, it comes and goes,
Let’s call brick a brick, and spade a spade.

You’re almost 40 with no boyfriend,
Yet, a minister of choice,
It comes and goes like a thirsty wave,
Time waits for no one, find your own voice

I’m not saying leap, but look at me
To see if I’m just a crook,
Like a thirsty wave, it comes and goes,
Read me, you’ll find me a better book

If you still don’t care, then keep me space,
With those you call ‘My good friends’,
It comes and goes like a thirsty wave;
We could be. If love flow from both ends.
