One For The School

The first time i failed, i was ashamed
to repeat over again
This played a part and laid me a mat
For i read no longer to retain.

Maths was the nuisance English was not
Geography won’t hear of me
This laid me a mat and played a part
Now it’s hard to locate my country.

The books we read were old and angry
The teachers were sullen too
This played a part and laid me a mat
Now someone is young and older too.

If per chance i had left with nothing
As my teacher had presumed
This laid me a mat and played a part
Cos i became all the school assumed.
