A Painful Prayer

And If my heart were a window,
I would press back against the wall,
Thin, stretch on toes to make me tall,
lean against the push of my will
to believe in love

Wherefore tears become choice rainfall
On grounds where seeds no longer grow,
I would bellow into whisper,
look blindly behind me and jump
Into this madness.

But i have died before pity,
Buried behind bitterness still
Gorged out these eyes before i saw
That God can’t forgive completely,
Even if we pray.
