To Russia,
I dare say beware.
The babies
Conceived during this meeting
Will be fathered from everywhere;
Maybe mothered too,
So have no fear,
But what happens next will stay here.
The sport will feature
Wine, meat and enticing flesh;
Tears, laughter, losses, wins
And a truck load of promises,
Coaches, referees
And handed out freebies.
Cups will be won,
And a set of mugs too.
The orgies will be more than one,
And the measure of conscience, few.
And in 8 years from now,
The cycle will repeat.
Canada will wonder how
The taste of Mexico’s meat
Leaves the US wanting.
There’ll be trophies to be won,
So go for nothing less;
