We had said “Long live the idols,”
Now they’re rivals.
They took our hopes,
And gave us ropes.

Then we hung ourselves; we’re now ghosts.
Bread, we can’t toast,
Hands, we can’t hold,
Clothes, we can’t fold.

And now we roam the streets unseen;
Haunting all being.
Fourteen Shadows,
Living Shallow.
