Trapped; Locked Inside

The mirrors told of her age
The pictures falsified her state.
Deep down she’s still a babe.
Trapped in a mature body
She longs for daddy and her dolly Sam.
She’s still a girl no more than thirty
Just yesterday she was toddling across the room.
Everyday she wakes, it’s yesterday.

Her home is now a trap door
Locked within mistrust and misgivings.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Is the sound of her heart beating against her insides.
She paints her fears in the most fearful way.
She’s a puzzle in her own maze.
Rap! Rap! Rap!
She had her spirit whisper,
“You will soon swallow yourself”.
