Tanner Lost His Butterfly

She didn’t know how to fly,
Perched in his heart for long.
Its pumping and thumping, the only song she knew.
A beauty accustomed to darkness,
Wingless butterfly, longing for freedom.
Tanner weakened her with his cares.

His affection couldn’t drown her cares,
The reality meant she couldn’t fly.
A hope that took all her freedom,
This charade has stretched too long.
Love became his cloud of darkness,
He was blinded but no one knew.

Clipping her wings with faults he knew,
Absorbing her to a world full of cares.
She left him regurgitating on his darkness,
Wishing he taught her how to fly.
The nest in his chest now cold and long,
He was the cage that sucked her freedom.
