Lately, I’ve been rummaging through my mind.
Out there is a valley with a vast space,
Where weeds and bushes, lush luxury, find.
Shrouding vision, life moves at a slow pace
Its corners stretch, always peeping the sky.
Shriveled stars look back, darkness in its place.
Is this not the grounds where thoughts come to die?
Now they’ve lost their wits, an idol, faithless!
There was a time they roamed freely and fly.
Forty days and forty night, still restless!
How did all this painful cactus survive
They borrow deeply, in a line, endless!
This wilderness seeks me out to revive
It holds the answers through which I can thrive.
