Poetry: Nobody Woke Us Up!!

I am Sarah, only sixteen
Let the older men please be seated
While my lips print what the eyes captured
Let every unbolt ear that admits my words
Savor them like tongue to food
And eat them for they feed the truth.

Men are evil; do not be swift to ask why
For cursed be the sperm that swallowed and digested the egg from the womb that sheltered me
For identical is the sperm that devoured mine too

I carry the child of my father
Disgusting enough for men to throw up spits on the soil
But you licked up the moistures
When you said “let them be joined together. They should become one”
I desire more to trudge down to the grave
And tell my mother what she didn’t know
Than to get hitched with the father of his daughter’s child
Can you not heed to the grief in the heart that carries laughter?
Oh! No, it’s not the Sarah that carried Isaac.

Dear old men, before you let the gavel kiss the block
I beseech that you do not deny.
Where did the hours find you when my voice Cried on every street corner and crawled on every High wall?
Do not say ” we’re asleep and no one woke us up”
Were the nights boisterous when my voice hunted your doors, stretched its hands and knocked?
Were the daylights not bright for you to see my pale face where you can watch the cinemas of the nights,
The episodes you claimed you missed?
Did I not tell one of you how he pounds on me and makes my breasts leap?
Did I forget to tell you how his fingers loosed scores of my pants?
How my face invites scars whenever I try to escape?
And times my feet fled far from father
You were the Samaritans to find his lost child..
But here you all sit upon justice
Suppressing it tight with your ass
Lowering its voice with poisonous fart.
In spite of that, Justice will survive
And spread the garment of comfort on me .
Dear old wise men,
I have a little strength to speak
A little strength to visit your shelves and open the books you never read
You claim you hate what’s bad
And abscond from what’s wicked
But you are like the evil eggs of the night
That break before dawn
