Poetry: A Perfect Prayer

Dear Daylight
If something happens tonight
Forgive my yesterday.
And cleanse the filth of tomorrow’s might.

They know not those who pray
They look the other way.
They bow to the floor
And kick in the door
Their stones do envy rocks.
They beat and take your name
Down from the wall of fame
The night time frowns
As daylight comes
But conscience that’s free is clear.
I can’t complete humanity
I’m just a haystack pin
There’s strength that starts as family
And lives when forgiveness wins.

Grace isn’t just a word, though free
Like prayer the master key
Unlock my heart’s Door master
Wide open for the man you want me to be

Most times I pray
Morning,Night and day
Preying for the perfect way
On my knees my words convey
Sounds of plea for my wrong deeds
With my hand whirling my prayer beads
Malnourished in my sins
Torturing my skin just to win
My prayers I see as mere words
With no make up or sword
Occupying the air like Birds
How perfect could this Be?
I heard your grace is sufficient and free
Shape me to the man you want me to be.

Grace isn’t just a word, though free
Like prayer the master key
Unlock my heart’s Door master
Wide open for the man you want me to be

I fought for you on my knees
I wielded a sword against your enemies
Their blood trickled down my sword
And flowed on to color the seas

My tears that fell to the ground
Raised an army of supplication to the sky
My lips mumbled desires profound
For you, words developed wings to fly
You were drowning in your lack of a seed
My eyes saw, my heart felt your need
My spirit to heaven’s gate to plead
Your last breath birthed your first green
Your heart took a new leap
Birthing another, a healing that ran deep
I am your nick of time
Your stitch in time that saved nine
I am grateful you are doing just fine
My soul won’t ask a dime

What is prayer if not sin rescind?
Hear me father, your humble child
Thunderously i render, only hushed by the wind.

Before you i stand
My sins unclothed
Invisible to all, a lucid sea before thee
Holy words sung from unclean lips
Formed by layers of sin
Crystallized by ignorance
The irony of the prodigal
That two silvers worth more than thousands
These words are no longer than i am
Whispered with tightly shut lids
The peace only you can grant
Easing all burdens, a feather
Vibrating through my chords, i mouth
Phrases only God can understand.

Depicting everything like losers weepers.
Heavy heart, Ivy poisoned slipping.
Horror in this life like jeepers creepers.

Facilitate access to open heavens.
Making request like you owe me.
Lowly hands put together in Hail Mary.
Seeking favors in form of the grace.
Forgive me father, I just want to reach the son.
The most valuable moment, not playing.
Hoping this conversation isn’t getting broken.
The devil leading voices in my head.
Doubting like the Pharisees and Thomas.
Failing like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
Casting away these demons that got me tied up.
After death, so much thorns piercing to after life.
So many wild thoughts so contrary.
Contrary with me commune communication to start.

I am no perfect being
I am just a beautiful sinner

I vowed on bent knees
To proclaim you as King
I am your Humble Slave
You pay my fees
Even when I lost in the ring
You died for my life

Permission to have a fling?
Just you and I in this Holy cave
Do you really pet the trees?

Besought God, man, and beast for me!
That darkness might release me into arms of light
They prayed for me!

Darts meant for my soul
pierced theirs!
curses seeking my head
Found theirs!
ambush in wait for me
ensnared them!
affliction hidden in my plate
ravaged them!
Family, might not say a word
but when tragedies advance
know this my son, they’ll step forward
I have learnt to pray too.
So on my bones are scars
Upon which are carved, names of others too.

They prayed for me!

Now I’m here, stamped by grace
What more can I say?

Hey, it’s me again
Down on my bent knees
With a baggage full of request
I intend to say at random.

But before my mouth would speak
You know the depth of its tongue
And the greed watering its roots;
Before my lips would say of the stars
You made them to shoot the skies
Painting beauty in my eyes.

You made these bones;
I dare not tell you of its marrows!

All I ask is your path for me
For truly, I’ve lost touch with you lately.
