Tears Can Level A Sand Dune: Emmanuel Udo Ibiok

The night is unusually stale
Motionless, I lay super frail
A perfect example of a broken scale
Discarded without honor
Crushed to stupor
I am that palace without splendor
Mine eyes have shed countless tears in June
Tears plenty enough to level a sand dune
I thought we danced to the same tune
I didn’t know the moves led to our ruin
Goodbye my friend
We have come to an abrupt end
The roads ahead are unfamiliar I’ve heard
Travel we must, because thorough we were bred
Like blood that’s found its way out of the vein
Our paths may never cross again
I may not find my way because you were my vane
But I know, the sun’s usually bright just after rain
