Midnight Conversations

midnight has been said to be
for the extraordinary; hard workers,
good students, witches & wizards
but definitely not me putting back to work
i cannot take a night job to feed my
family because my thoughts come
in a train – coach by coach.
if you catch me on one of these drives
you would have met another me
one with a glow in his eyes like aang.
i am my best self when the world has
gone to sleep, when it’s just me left
in the world.
the darkness has taught me to
unravel the darkness clouding my light
to heal me of the hurt weighing me down
these conversations could be with a man, with an angel or with a demon but i’d rather have these talks with myself – it’s how
i detox.
