Why do the stars look very different today?

the sky at night would
shimmer like when
light bounces on frozen ice
but last night,
last night was a different kind of brightness
as the night that shines upon me,
was shimmering before me
i stood behind the night
and everything
i once shared an abode with
stared at me from
ten thousand miles.
the sky at night would
shimmer like when

but last night, i moved in
with the stars of the night sky.
i became one with the light.
