Changes

right now,
outside, we see
along the thin bend
into the city
where roads claim lords
and open their mouths
to eat our tyres
even after sealing
their lips,

where nell spells
‘happy’ with her finger
on the car window,
a glow you only
catch through the rear view.
right now outside
nothing starts.

nothing starts,
the rains
touch the earth the same,
corpse-like vendors
selling feeds they
never eat.

you scream inside
holding the wheel wishing
you could tell your daughter
why nothing starts
right outside the thin
bend into the city
where nothing may
ever change.
