Tomorrow

ran for who wouldn’t walk for me
took a shot for who stabbed from the front
yesterday, I was a good friend.

professed love that wasn’t returned
did acts of services but wasn’t serviced
yesterday, I disgraced Yoruba men.

pay a debt that has no end
carry a cross until forever
today, I am a son and a brother.

lose every argument
define it all, even a sigh.
tomorrow, I’ll be a husband.

put me last on the list
tear out all of me for comfort
tomorrow, I’ll be a father.
