Tribal Marks

they, our fathers who were wrapped in names—
threw threads to always talk to us,
to draw us back when our feet took far trips.
they needed a pinch of a map in us
since our bones became trees that walked about.
In our roaming and naming
may we not forget the house we left on fire.
