Self-portrait of My Lover as Messiah

verily I’ll say to you
as on earth as you would do
such good that good may envy
as bad has thrived so plenty.
peace, her olive hand may lend
to rivers that may never end.

verily I’ll say you may
be to us a bard today.
lure a note into a song
of themes that kindness may long.
all that is right may prevail
justice may lift aloft her scale.

the tainted gaze of cruelty shall break
and thy hand shall every unborn take.
