Against Veneration

every time the sun returns
as long as it keeps its cool
for the moon to light
a creed is pledged again

to birds and winged men
and the flight they both pursue
we abide as nocturnal
every time the sun returns

i choose devotion
of man for man
of man for beast or lords
as long as it keeps its cool

never shall I object
or in fury reject
a charming exchange
for the moon to light

to this entente
i fail to fault
a choice that stands when
a creed is pledged again
