What is it that lovers want with full moons

edges cliff themselves
into deadlines to meet
the ones we wish to see
again for a second last time.
I stare, not alone, into a setting
full moon
hiding— like an ostrich with
it’s head buried in the sand—
behind a baobab tree.
what is it that lovers want
with full moons?
to see their true colours?
to make sure that no one
loves a werewolf?
