Reply to Thomas Bot’s ‘Ode to Regret’

I don’t know how
to lose hope in me

There’s never enough
Reason, to hang over pain

I cry hopefully
Probably to raise the dead

Then I look for a new route
To get to the other side

Regret is too heavy
To hang around the neck

Gold chains do better jobs
The sparkle attracts

Like white teeth
And the vampire

No, I refuse to cry
Not even in the rain

I will take the lane
Where in we can lay

To rewrite an old story
Of love without regrets
