Reply to Thomas Bot’s ‘Ode to Regret’
I’ve waited in the rain
like I did the other day.
I’ve knelt to pray,
will I find you again?
my heart is sprained,
my emotions, chained.
in debt, the price to pay
to make this thought wane
till all that is left is a grain,
is this knife, is felo de se.
bury me in the rain,
let my doubts decay.
every night and day,
don’t relive this pain.
don’t live in disdain,
breathe at your pace.
don’t touch yourself at
the thought of my face.
forget me when I’m gone,
I’m the felo de se who’s slain.
