Ode to rest

A house filled with the aroma
Of freshly brewed coffee
Two slices of toast
An old book
Opened with legs stretching to the fire place
Thoughts of travels
The plains of Japans rice fields
The bear in the snow of Alaska
The land where the sun shines half of the year
The flowing bulbous in Dakar
Mushrooms with pounded yam
In the training seasons
Of life in my village
And I sit in a comfortable cane chair
Is the rest
Over body and soul
