I am reading

An end without an ending
The day you, me, and others were born
This law was buried in our DNA
You can get away all you want
Cry so you can be offered laughter
Scream so my ears will twitch at the rebuke
Enjoy everything that attention brings
This gold platter would shatter
The broken pieces would help you bleed
This water will constantly rise, and
The levees will break soon
You will be washed away
To the shores, others have flown to
I will be outside, wrapped in a blanket
Enjoying steams from the sunlight
And he said to me,
“Not now Ola, I’m reading.”
