Take sorrow’s hand

There are things sorrow does not teach you
Like how not to hold on to the bitter
Taste that forms at the corners of our mouth
How to rid the stench of all that you have endured
How to lift your legs up
And enjoy the goodness that flows under
On the day that joy comes knocking, you can’t even look it in the eye, you do not recognize it
That’s why some of us cannot lick sugar
So we leave it to the ants to gather and feast upon.
