Follower

i never followed a lead
i followed the followers
I preached and practiced
and knew what was right
and that, despite, died every night.

now I hear what’s not said
I speak a lot of silence
I confess only to what I know is true
and do as the follower what I’ll do
as the leader.

i’ll be wary of truth told in secret
i’ll understand the power of power
and see to it that laws made by man
do not make him kill his mother
I’ll protect me from myself
