Today, we tell another lie

he took her hands and brought her close
with fine intentions to oppose
he had claimed he would
treat her right and good
but each lie did extend his nose.

i’ve come to learn that truth just might
be a little unclear at night
the darkness consumes
the liar assumes
that the lie told a day is white
