More Poets, Less Poems

A million poets
But twenty-six letters

Scores of inks, but few trees for the papers
More voices, but less message given.

We’ve seen the odd in the even,
The worst in the best

Poetry looses it fruits and roots that rest
In the hearts of ancient men.

A faith they never forgot then
It was less poets and more poems they met.
