More Poets, Less Poems

a shelter of applause
cannot brew a better crowd

you must know what volume is loud
if you’re ready to sit in the sky.

strange names on suits and tie
aggressive adjectives, chants and stress

don’t bank on awards in duress
while the truth is strangled by the muse.

so while empty words may make the news
be verbs, metaphors that close the clauses.
