and the flowers bloomed
after breaking bad habits.
they allowed rain
wash in water their crinkled petals
their leaves opened like umbrellas
to protect the hearts of the roots.
we see the beautiful leaves
we relish the fruits
but never the mud we wash off each bite
we live in leaves like vegans
but the roots keep alive these leaves and fruits
the trees and woods
until we uproot.
there’s love that endures in life and death
but theirs will end with a bite.
