If only you’d listen

There’s so much wisdom in utter silence,
there’s so much peace you can reach out and touch
if only you’ll listen with clear conscience.

You think of wars, you think of violence
you think of love and hate and things like such
there’s so much wisdom in utter silence

There’s calm and warmth in chaos’ absence
freedom becomes vague when noise becomes much
If only you’ll listen with clear conscience

Don’t hear but listen, do not grant audience
to things that disrupt life’s gears and clutch
there’s so much wisdom in utter silence

To always listen, do pledge allegiance
like West Germans are faithful to speak Dutch
If only you’ll listen with clear conscience

You are still too deaf, your soul is quite tense
the noise that you house have scattered your hutch
there’s so much wisdom in utter silence
if only you’ll listen with clear conscience.
