One’s Favourite

To please my craving-
Roundabout housing oil,
Kpomo soaked in red stew,
Pleasing but harmful Shaki to the eyes,
Not forgetting gbegiri in the pool.

The green swamp of ewedu in the bowl,
All served from a pot on firewood,
With a cold bottle of coca-cola,
Chilling on the table alongside a
Dark ‘kokoless’ sumptuous-looking Amala.

Waiting like a virgin heart
Longing to be loved,
The hand is the perfect scissors,
To cut a portion and blow,
Before sending a shout-out to my stomach.
