Homesick

an infant, wrapped like a mummy
is seen in a not too colorful picture
at a corner where two walls meet.
four wooden frames man
the four walls of a room.
there are two opposite windows
hidden by curtains
like a bride hides behind a veil.
there’s a sofa, older than me they say,
housing missing coins, passports and pens.
there’s another picture, of my father
always staring at me,
especially when I’m with a girl-
his eyes seem to say
“I see everything that you do.”
