Homesick

I might have to buy new clothes
As Bigdaddy fits well into the old ones,
Unending tales of training and guns,
Officers’ Mess and the mess they cause
Saturday mornings five-aside
Where we never make the same team,
Else the boys will say “They are too strong.”
The pride of my father is found in his eyes,
Countless talks on whose team is the better,
He’ll ask what is next and suggest what is best.
My bed will be like a dying plant
Witnessing the return of rain,
The decorated walls of my room,
Will be happy to get countless stares,
Home is where comfort is resting.
