I pray Thee

How many times should we act

As compatriots when not obeyed?
God has done enough for our cause,
Yet the older generation has chosen
To frustrate youths from the truth,
Service is the milking of motherland,
Made us even to find odds in ourselves,
A new name for priority is “misplaced,”
Parties using/used our future to throw parties,
Rights turned petals and being stepped on,
Disrespected at home, disrespected abroad,
If not shot at; poverty, lack of social amenities,
The past is gone, we hope for better,
But what do we say to failure at fifty-nine
Than to stretch forth our hands to pray
For everyone hallucinating our dreams?
Hopefully, most of them won’t know peace.
