So did Depression

In this rat race, there’s no winning
Cover you face, and keep spinning
Escape this beehive, the earth is a sponge
Take a dive and enjoy the plunge
Stop trying, the grave is still an end
Forget crying, it’s the worst trend
I’ll relabel your poison, make it your friend.

Since I clocked twenty, this weight won’t leave me
Toxic is plenty, removal is lengthy a key
I, a vigilante for the nightly phantoms
And they ante up their acts at random
I am like humpty dumpty in scattered pieces
To fill this empty, I grovel till my breath ceases
I am tumbling, unfolding in tiny creases.
