Apologies that never came

Where is the place where wonders would end?
Is it in an inn inside here?
Look what has caved, who we saved
Did we do this for you?
Know that we have tried
How gently we did too
Arms and knees daily enslaved
Rudely, you would jeer, mock and sneer
Did you not fall too short to pretend?

On the days where nights look like mountains
And all we have to do is climb
We’d need hands that fit like gloves
We’d need palms of magnet
Feet that can fit rocks
Apologies, not yet
We’d need breath that a rock loves
We’d need forgiveness of the clime
We’d need arms as open as fountains.
