Songs About A Well

As a child, one does not know who to trust.
For we were told
That Satan’s fold
Was beneath dust.
But when we dug,
We saw water.
With pure laughter,
And with no drug;
We drilled earth’s crust.
And instead of fire we found water.

“It will always be well with well water,”
We hail earth’s crust.
Liquor is drug
For deep laughter.
We drink water
For each grave dug,
Knowing we’re dust,
Our spirits too fold.
Old tales were told,
Of old men begging at the well, for trust.
