The Mask on the Masquerade.

Welcome to my mask party
Where truth hides behind a lie
A minute of happiness sold for thousands of pain
You slice a vain to escape your own blood
I’ve heard of a mask called strength
The one that turns your shoulders to pillars
You shut your lips to silence pants from the weight
When you crumble, you can’t stand but lie
What do you hold when everyone else holds you?
Let’s turn off our feelings, he and I agreed
But the strings still found a way to bind us
Some masks wear many faces
Changes into different colours
That is when my poetry finds more voice
Lent by the pain from secrets I carry
There is one I wear to hide from men
Most times it forgets to wear off
I am left looking like a masquerade
The empty streets and cold nights bear witness
But how else can I play safe?
There is a two minutes mask that comes in a bottle
The madness multiplies after it wears too
I’ve heard of another called reality
It zaps you from dreams and fantasies
Clutching you with an icy grip
There are days I don’t wear masks
People still see a masquerade
The mask mas become me.
