The Living Statue
Marvelous with artistry,
Alive and carved skillfully,
A living statue lived long.
The creation cleverly conceal wonder,
Its heart passionate for love.
Often feeling flesh,
When touched by female hands.
Sometimes it gazed and addressed speeches,
Sometimes it became unadorned.
Venus of Cyprus struck,
Timidly the gods prayed;
The statue understood
That the gods were disposed kindly.
It burned it’s tongue as offering
And hardness lost it’s ivory touch.
