From what we think we know

Forbidden Art

Pygmalion carved the revolt of such women
He was with artistry but without wife
He wanted flesh with limbs and heart
Modesty, real born to bruise her soft.
He brought home gifts; robes, rings and necklaces
A finery adorned in passion and form
But an imagined statue he would kiss,
He would dress her in ivory,
Press her in flattery all in his head.
When Venus called, Pygmalion brought incense and axe
He gave an offering in prayers
And prayed for her kind kind fire.
Her gods leaned and touched him
He fell for nature in love
It was marvelous to forbid his art.
