Ode to Annan Atta

It’s easier to love when the world is in danger
Some healing come from just looking at a stranger
We can go farther than our fathers did
Maybe we just need to slow down on our speed.

Thanksgiving is also a form of prayer
Giving shouldn’t come from what’s left to spare
These cities remember what we say of them
If you’re beaten for long you begin to sound like a drum.

Think of the nannies and think of the kids
Remember the gardens and pray for the seeds.
One day we all could maybe disappear
But for now let’s live while we’re still living here.
