One for the Road

Here is one for the man with the load
His neck, his vigour, his cracked feet
His choice to survive, but still do right
Even though he’d die on the road.

Once it was said that none he had owed,
They wondered why the poor won’t cheat
He was pushed and cursed to start a fight
But he knew calm, and won’t explode.

I pray daily to live by that code
To be humble, to take the heat
To beg for daylight when it is night,
So I never get to implode.

Here is one for the man with the load
His neck, his vigour, his cracked feet
His choice to survive, but still do right
Even though he’d die on the road.

Leonell.
