Unused Painkillers

For long you’ve been on my shelf.
To the point that I forgot you existed.
Even at moments my aches persisted.

Have I been withholding myself?
From the urges of using these pills.
I’m tired of climbing those hills.

Let me focus instead,
And leave you shelved there wasted.
A glass of water will do.
These painkillers keep me caged like a zoo.
You are supposed to be unused,
For the more I use you, I get more confused.
