Poetry: Be Thankful For Nothing

Sowing sparingly
Where stones rejoice over the space of the soil
Fueled by the promise of bountiful harvest
By sugar-coated lips
To lift you to status yet untouched
Induced by personal fears of sleeping in garbage
And dreams of escaping
Using your dreams of same
To rip you off
Burn your fingers
Erase your hope.
The attacker now wears a hammer head,
Remorselessly hitting at you,
Asking
Persuading,
Bragging,
Cursing you to submit
Say no,
Thanks but no
It’s better to invest in snakes .
