Poetry: Nobody Woke Us Up!!

We dreamt awake
The sun rose but day won’t break
Arising from a misplaced bargain
Thus our forever began

We were sons
Same marrow graced our bones
While we slept on straw beds
Water beds and foreign grounds slept in our heads

We built our castles
Way high up in the sky
Fought the wrong battles
No one told us dawn was nigh

We prided in our dreams of foreign places
We saved all our eggs in its basket
We did the maths without solving its brackets
Those who dreamt with their eyes closed made away with all the aces

Paul’s dream was to imprint his footprint on the rugged plateau behind our humble village
Our long sight blinded us from seeing the potentials close by
But there isn’t a better teacher than age
But it seems too late for a sigh
