Review: “Dear Son” By Andrew Patience (AP)

Time is fair to none, and the future reveals itself to nobody.
A well written piece dedicated to a future she hasn’t seen.

A son, never seen before but prayers are already been made for him. It’s become more traditional than required to speak good words into the future.

Every Mother’s joy is to see smiles on their children’s face. She mentioned “Be the soul that makes my heart beat endlessly.”

She goes ahead to set standards of living for him like a typical Yoruba Mother would
“Do not keep bad company” “avoid women” “humble yourself, roll your sleeves and serve”
The downfall of a man begins when he can’t control his appetite for money and women.
This should tell of how much she would love to be a Mother to her yet-to-be-conceived son.

Adore me but “Do not see and shape your life through my eyes. I hope my words become the voice that guides you in the days to come.”
Hold on to the bringer of light. She tells of how much she would love her son, and still allow him grow up into the man he should be.

“Hearken to my words, it shall be well with you glorious child” the song writer sang.

The background music doesn’t do well with the message being communicated, though it flows with the Nigerian geography in play.
